I have a lot on my plate dealing with health issues, divorce and financial stress. Emotionally I feel like I just can't take anymore. I go to a free counseling center weekly. They do not administer medication and suggest I ask my primary doctor to change my meds. He has me on lexapro but it doesn't seem to be helping. I know things I need to do but don't do them.Things as simple as phone calls. I don't know why. I isolate myself from family and friends. I don't answer when they call and I don't call them back.
How much lexapro are you on and for how long now? You sound like your describing me 10 yrs ago. I am taking effexor. One thing that I never had was the will to give in to stress. And believe me over the past 10 yrs I've had plenty. You have to just develop the idea that nothing is going to get you. I have dealt with divorce, the death of my soulmate, having all my possessions stolen, and having to move twice, all in the past 10 yrs, and I'm still kicking. Of course I'm just plain thick headed. I still cringe when the phone rings, but that's a reasonable response as frequently its been bad news on the other end. If you say what dose of lexapro you're on, we can help you a bit better with what to do next.
I take 20mg of Lexapro and have been for 3 months now.
You have been on the Lexapro long enough to see a positive response. May need to try a different antidepressant. We are all different. What works for one May not for another.
Hello. You are doing the right things to get you through this time. It will change and you will be better one day. Counseling is a big part of this, glad you have it. Medication switch, one more thing, right?, may well have to be done. Sometimes the dose can be changed. This is not unusual as I have had to do this too. Hang on, things will improve. Write anytime as there is plenty of support here. Stay strong. Things will work out for you. Karen
Well you sound like your definitely going through a depression! That is why you are going through all these symptoms. I would try your meds for a few weeks only and then ask the doctor to try something else. It can take weeks or months to find the right meds and doses for you. Try not to get discouraged! One day at a time.
Good luck and take care,
