i have excessive menstrual bleeding every month and cannot leave my house on the first two days because the bleeding is so heavy i would embarrass myself in public.I think its the fibroids but i'm not sure if its something else that causes it. The bleeding is unbearable, and i have had it since about 2004 Thanks for your response.
Sometimes ablation helps although it wont stop all bleeding like ablation does in women without fibroids. I would get to a gynecologist as soon as you can. Heavy bleeding like this contributes to anemia which can make you feel very tired and run down at the very least and at worst can leave you needing transfusions and could even be fatal if your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels fall too low.Surgery can be scary but sometimes it is the best course of action and most women who have these kinds of problems feel much better after surgery. Even if you need a hysterectomy, they can often leave the ovaries, if they are healthy, and this leaves you with all the hormonal benefits of the ovaries. It is only when they take the ovaries that women are thrown into surgical menopause. Often, with fibroids, it is only necessary to remove the uterus only leaving the ovaries intact. See your gynecologist and talk about your options.
Hi, I also have a massive fibroid and the bleeding was so bad that I had to have a blood transfusion. My haemoglobin dipped to 5.4. I was told that I would have to have a hysterectomy but I wanted to try everything first before going into surgery. I found out about ESMYA (a tablet) that is used to shrink fibroids and stop bleeding. Although I was a little sceptical, my bleeding stopped after two days! I have had the first three month treatment and have now started my second treatment. I feel so much better and I know the fibroid has shrunk because my tummy is no longer sticking out and I don't have to pee every twenty minutes. I would ask you doctor about Esmya as I am seriously impressed with the results I've had. I have also not experienced any negative side effects.
