I think I really need to check myself into a hospital for my struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. I need to go away for a while but I want to go somewhere nice. Somewhere in a nice environment where I can truly get better. Not some bleak flight deck of a hospital where nothing ever gets better. I would like to go somewhere like Silver Hills in Connecticut but I'm not sure how great it is despite being a luxury hospital. Can anyone offer an insight or advice?
Dear Let there be Light-
I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. I am sure there are some good facilities in your area. Do you have someone that can advocate for you or do some research? Maybe find one that is a psychiatric hospital that has good reviews and ratings. Some times University teaching hospital are a good choice.I hope you find what you need soon. This world needs you.
Ironically, when living in CT I was a guest at Silver Hill for a brief time and thought it was fabulous. Now, though, I've just read some rather rude reviews ~ although when reviews are rude and vicious so are the people that write them.
Maybe through a mental health clinic or an ER you could hook up with a social worker who could help you navigate through the maze of finding a suitable facility.
Anyway, I'm proud of you for reaching out for help and making this decision. That's the first step to healing.
Good luck and best wishes, WCV
The hospital where I live is not the best but my psychiatrist I got when I was hospitalized was great. It took him 6 months to find that Manerix and lithium were the meds for me. I have been depression free since 2008. And when I went in I had a psychotic episode from Seroquel a med someone else prescribe for major depression. So you never know we're the great doctors are.
