I can honestly say having been in recovery for 33 years(a day at a time) i have never heard of medication that would stop alcoholism.I never took anything but of course we are all different.I would suggest you consult your G.P. and there may be medication that would ease the withdrawals.Together with attending meetings adjusting your diet and lifestyle all contribute to a positive recovery.I believe a physical recovery dependent on the individual 6 to 8 weeks.Mental recovery around 2 years.I still attend meetings keep regular contact with my AA friends
