ive tried xanax and ativan but the ativan does not help at all and the doc says she wont write a script for xanax because she says its really addictive due to its short half life so what would be a good benzo to ask for?
Okay if she is willing to prescibe ativan she should be willing to prescribe the other benzos cause no matter what they all are addictive also remind her that they are not even narcotic. Remember they only have potential for abuse it doesnt neccessarily mean you are going to abuse them.
First off buddy, you may want to think twice about being prescribed and benzo if you are not suffering from chronic anxiety. As a kid, I loved xanax but I also really did have anxiety, it runs on my moms side of the family. So my doc prescribed me ativan.. was on it for like half a year an it sucked. I mean it did the job right, got rid of my anxiety but I wanted more. I asked her if she could put me on klonopin, and she did. Klonopin is similar to xanax, except the effect lasts 6 to 8 hours as opposed to xanax which is 3 - 4 hours. I've been on klonopin for a couple years now, and one time I ran out and went a week straight without my klonopin and was withdrawling so bad I began to have seizures while I was at work and was rushed to the E.R. Once you're prescribed benzos and you're body gets used to taking them, you're screwed.
I was prescribed 90 2mg xanax bars last month, ended up killing the bottle in 2 weeks and landed in the mental hospital detoxing hard from those killers. Benzos are not something you want to be prescribed too, they are all addicting and they are all extremely difficult and miserable to detox from. I wish I was you right now because I wouldn't have started taking any benzos and found away to treat my anxiety naturally. Now i'm stuck on klonopin, and I get sick if I go more than 2 days without them. I promise you, you will suffer from things if you are prescribed anything higher than lorazepam(ativan). Don't even go near an xanax prescription because trust me, you will get them, you will take them, you'll take more an more, an you'll take them until your bottle is empty a week after you got it and then you're assed out 'cause no refills for at least a month. So I mean, if you really need an anti-anxiety.. go for something you can control at least 'cause their the most difficult drugs to mess around with and detox from.
