Mom was on Anafranil but Kaiser will no longer pay for it, so her doctor put her on Norpramin. She has had numerous problems since being on it, most disturbingly a severe decrease in coordination leading to more falls. In the morning, she is so groggy that she speaks incoherently and needs to be told what to do because she is confused. Her doctor seems to be lost as to what to do or prescribe. Any suggestions based on experience would be helpful. Thanks!
I don't know what's going on with these insurance companies and refusing to pay for older antidepressants. Mine just advised me I have to pay 11 a month copay on a med that is so old it only costs 12 a month. Won't they pay for the generic anafranil, chlomipramine? She definately needs to be off the norpramine. She'll be breaking a hip. What about imipramine, Tofranil? Generic anafranil is fairly cheap. Around 35 for 30 tabs.

Will the effectiveness of my antidepressants change if I take it at night instead of in the morning?
