I started at 180 mg a day and have gotten myself down to 60 mg once a day. My last dr. visit, he gave me 30 mgs and I want to start taking only 1 30 mg a day. I live with a young daughter and have no one to help me through this. How do i go about getting off the extended release. I also have around 10 5 mg vicodin left. Any suggestions for me?
It sounds like your doing exactly what you should do to get off of them & that is tapering down. If you can do what you did with the 60's with the 30's you could drop to 15mg & do the same with those. Keep the hydrocodone around for when you get your dose so low you can stop the morphine & then use the vicodin only when you feel really ill & by then when those wear off you should have such a small amount of opiates in your system that the vicodins might actully get you out of withdrawals which right now if you quit taking the morphine & tried getting out of withdrawal with the vicodins it wouldn't work at all but if you taper down to such a low level they might just be enough to get you off the morphine without any real withdrawal, but thats if you continue tapering down. Good luck & hope this helps.
