... Doctors take people off cold turkey, and then abandon them as if the patient has some other issue going on
.Iagree with you so much man,I was hooked on methadone and my psychatrist put me on clonazapam, then when I got off the methodone he coldturked me off the clonazapam,I not only suffered from the methadone withdrawls but the benzo withdrawl too.Dr. are saddist in my book, dont they relize we know what helps us and what we need, afterall it is our bodies.I am happy to report i have been drug and alcohol free now for some time, but I know what you are going through, hangin there.Jawibo 56..
first of all, Benzo wothdrawl is one of the worst, most dangerous and painful w/d's to go thru. its worse than even methadone, oxy. perc;s etc. The reason is, it takes so long to get out of your body and if you used these to help you sleep, forget about sleeping on your own for about 4-5 months. the most serious side effect is seizure. I myself went thru this and its no joke. i have never been the type to have this happen but sure enough, i was taken out by ambulance and didnt know what year it was! DO NOT STOP THIS COLD TURKEY! I know how hard it can be to level up with your doc but this could save your life. if you never took one, [xanax, klonopin, atovan,] dont. find another way. i thought this was a miracle drug until i ran out and became very sick. i am also addicted to pain meds for a broken back and as bad as coming off those are, benzo's are worse..
you think its just your head it will affect, trust me, your stomach will suffer, every part of you will hurt, on top of the seizure fear, your body will start to have tremors... yep, that steady arm will start to jump, fall asleep, and as soon as you are lucky enough to drift off, u will jump and twitch. I am so serious about this. I have been addicted now for many years and if i can help at least one person, i will feel better. Please, consider. is your pain/anxiety really worth this? learn to calm yourself down, it is that simple considering the alternatives. Please. listen to someone who knows first hand. [oh and btw... the first one will feel like heaven. what they dont tell you is it takes more and more just to feel relief again. God Bless...
Hello phoenix25. I am surprised to read your thread, in that the doctors who perscribe a benzodiazepine know fully well the workings of that family of drugs. I have yet to come across a doctor who is not aware of the potential dangerous withdrawals/ramifications of this family of drugs. I am sorry that you have come across those who do not know. Regards, pledge
Its amazing to me that American doctors are completely clueless when it comes to withdrawal symptoms, let alone protracted withdrawal symptoms. I talked with a cardiologist who told me western medicine and american doctors just have no clue as to what these drugs do or how they affect you. So sad
