I took 10 on day 1 0% effectiveness 20 on day 2 (00% effects time news . Is there some thing I am missing?
No its not like antidepressents. Belsomra should work right away. I took it when I was out of the country and out of my usual sleep aid. It was trial and error with me for a week. If I ate shortly before or after taking it then it didn't work. I had to take it on an empty stomach. Also if I took it with my pain meds it didn't work. All in all it's a good sleep aid. Just be careful not to take it for too long. I heard it can be additive.
To answer your question above, Belsomra is effective upon first use (usually 10mg). It is not an anti-depressant so the 6-8 week waiting period does not apply. The literature on Belsomra does explain this. Besides, 10mg is the recommended starting dosage (as well as the dosage that is optimal to stay on). So taking 10mg on the first day and then doubling up to 20mg on the 2nd day can be dangerous, considering that 20mg is the highest recommended dosage.
If neither dosage amounts worked for you, then you should contact the prescribing physician. Because there could be an interaction with another med, or you may be taking it on a full stomach (which will lower the effect).
Also, I would highly recommend researching ANY medication before taking it.
