I am just really tired of taking xanaxs and i am so scared of the side effect to all the other pills... What can i do to help it?! I mean the xanaxs work great but i want to get off of them... i feel like they just cover up the problem not fix it.
The way to fix the problem is to work with a therapist who specializes in anxiety. Uncovering the source for your anxiety will help a lot. Until you work through this, you can use the Xanax to help you maintain a more even mood when faced with a new situation. People do get cured from intense anxiety when they do not work on it. They can develop worse and worse anxiety by feeling hopeless about it. You can definitely get better. There is a difference between normal anxiety and panic attacks. Working diligently with a therapist will change your life in a wonderful way. BTW most anxiety is actually caused by the fear that a person will become anxious.
Many people have this condition. You can get better. Don't stop medication like Xanax without discussing with your doctor. It has to be stopped in a specific manner depending upon your dose and frequency. I was using Xanax because of a panic attack based on my health. After things settled down I stopped. When another problem showed up I became anxious again. I use it now only when I know a situation will be tense. Seeing a therapist has helped. Good luck to you. Hope you improve quickly. Karen
Xanax is a short lasting drug. It's not made to bring long term effects. I take it when I know I'm going to do something stressful- airplanes or dentists or something. It's good for that feeling of when you're so anxious and scared, having a panic attack, you can't function not even to calm yourself down, without help. For long lasting anxiety help the best thing is therapy. Some therapists specialize in it, you can ask on the phone or look them up online. It's a hard battle to fight, but it sounds like you're willing to put in the effort needed, which is great. It's not unbeatable. In the meantime, I find writing in my journal what I'm anxious about helpful, along with deep breathing. If you can, maybe try making a list of things that calm you and keep the list handy- I've found I forget a lot when I'm anxious. I hope this helps,
