I started Bactrim 8 days ago taking one pill two times per day. I have moderately severe inflammatory acne. I am 20 years old and I used to have very mild acne just 3 months ago. Then I started putting jojoba oil on my face, I used if for 3 months and my skin just did NOT like it. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me bactrim. So far I haven't notices any difference really in the actually amount of acne but maybe the inflammation is down? It's hard to say. I was just hoping I could get some insight/ encouragement because I am so desperate to get rid of this acne and get my life back to normal! Thanks!
It can take a while. Months even. Dont expect to see a great result in a matter of days. Your skin is going to heal from the inside out and this can take up to 3 to 6 months before you see a great deal of difference. You may see some changes and improvement earlier than this but you will not see the full effects for a few months. Never put oils of any kind on skin that tends to break out. It just blocks the pores and makes break outs worse. You can try a good bentonite clay mask weekly to help draw impurities to the surface but remember with clay masks, they can make your face look worse before it improves it because it is drawing all the impurities to the surface which means break outs. Once all the "crud" is drawn out though, your skin will begin to look much much better. I swear by clay because it open pores and dries blemishes and makes your skin nice IF you are patient enough and realize that it will look worse before it gets better. Be sure you continue to keep your face very clean washing twice a day. Use oil free and fragrance free products only on your face. Did your Dr give you any topicals? My son had very good luck with Bactrim DS, Acanya gel topical and Atralin topical. He also used a sulfur based face wash.
