I recently switched from one birth control pill to a different one. The doctor told me to use back up protection for the first month that I am on the new pill. Can I use the Plan B pill as back up protection?
No. It's solely emergency protection, not back-up protection.
You aren't supposed to use it more than once in any one cycle (period month), unless you absolutely are stuck with an emergency, because it can mess your body up significantly, in terms of side effects & cycle.
You could have a coil fitted, use condoms, a diaphragm/cap, a femidom... those things are good back-ups.
Plan B is also not as effective as regular birth control, so you'd spend the month wondering if it worked or not! Not very nice!
