... neck pain has gotten worse. I'm seeing a pain management doctor who increases my meds everytime I come in because they cease to help. Currently, I'm taking 4 lortab 10's and 2 Flexeril 10's a day. Not only do I still barely get through the day, but I just found out I'm pregnant with a 4th child. All my pain management doctor plans to do is keep me on the lortab and take me off the flexiril. There has to be something else I can do. For one thing, I'm scared to take the Lortabs while pregnant, for another, it's hard enough getting through the day WITH the 2 Flexiril, I don't know what to do without it. Most days my pain is unbearable, being pregnant will just make it worse. I'm also part of a very very low income family. What can I do for the pain?
Find some non-medicine ways to deal with pain. Pain meds are not for everyone. I was on some pretty heavy triplicate prescriptions for fibromyalgia and RA. They stop working and as a fairly young person, you end up with no where to go. At 35 (6 years ago), I decided to take myself off Morphine, Flexeril, Ultram, Ms Contin and several other meds for which I was prescribed. Find some CDs with guided imagery and meditation. Deep relaxation and bio-feedback is also helpful. At least try while until your baby is born. Will this fix things permanently? Maybe or maybe not, but you owe it to you and your baby's health to try! But, if it gets too bad, don't be afraid to seek help from a doc. Medications are useful and serve a purpose. You just have to figure out if the risk is worth the effects of medications..
Well in my own pain experience if you take those two meds together are likely to knock you out I would say that if I was you I would ask for a stronger pain med perhaps oxycontin 20mg by itself no flexeril flexeril can have nasty sides so talk to your doc be direct you sugest what I said to you and if he / she agrees then you might get relief. But also make sure you really have this problem and maybe have some tests done ok
I'm 67 with scoliosis pain... herrington rod pushing its way out of the top and rod already disconnected from bottom. I use one hydrocodone, 1/3 hydromorphone and an "Energy Now" ginsing pill to keep me awake and alert. (you can get them at gas stations or on ebay) It works well. I can function and be mostly pain free.
