... my Dr finally ordered an xray and found that my pain is real and I'm not a pill junkie. My question is, he started me on perc 750 2 X's a day that wasn't working so last week he upper me to perc 10s 2 X's a day. The perc doesn't last as long as the drs say they should, does anybody have any suggestions as to a combination of a long lasting med to be used with my percocet? I am tired of the constant pain that is now going down into my hips
I also suffer from the same illness as you. I. Have it in my upper and lower spine. I take 6 Percocet's a day. I'm also looking for a long lasting drug for the pain. I've done a lot of research but don't know which one works the best. Let's keep in touch and let me know what you find out. I go back to drs on the 8th and would love to know what to ask for. He suggested a drug called nucynta and I think it has to many side effects.
He's trying to treat chronic pain with a med for acute pain and then not well. Percocet works no longer then 6 hrs, if you're lucky. And all that tylenol is a big problem in my book. Tylenol can damage your liver if taken on a long term basis. The best thing for chronic pain is a long acting medication. The goal when treating chronic pain is to prevent it, with percocet, you're chasing after it, so it never really works well. All meds have side effects and as far as I'm concerned tylenol is among the worst of them. There is no guarantee you would have one of them.
I have the same problem.Nothing ever gets rid of the pain completely.I am prescribed Lortab 10mg.Suppose to take 4x a day. I ususally try to get by with 2.I think it is going to eat my liver away!I do use a 10's unit.I try to do anything instead of taking all these pills these Doctors prescribe that only mask the pain for awhile. The morning is the worst time for me.I use a heating pad alot!My lower back and hips kill me.I do find sleeping in a Recyliner easier, than the bed. That way I don't rollover on my hips. And alot of pillows! But as for what combo can be used... let me know if you find the answer...
