The only time I go to the dr is when I get stuck and can't move the specialist that I went to gave me an epidoral in my spine but that only helped for about 2months, I don't want to get cut and still have the pain later in life, what are the steps for just getting on medications monthly for the pain and nerves? I've been on hydros, perc, oxy, and neurotin for the nerves, any suggestions would be great..
If your pain management doctor isn't already giving you monthly prescriptions you made need another doctor. If your family doctor knows they aren't writing the medication you need they may write it then just let the PM do the shots. I would discuss it with your regular doctor and explain the situation. You may need a new Pain Doc, some just don't write like they should. You deserve to be treated and taken care of by both! Sometimes you have to be stern.. not hateful but you are living your life and if they aren't doing their job and you are suffering sometimes it needs to be said. Another suggestion is to take someone you trust with you.. ie. A family member who can verify your troubles and needs. Just don't be aggressive be discussive.. sometimes it takes another to account for you for them to listen. Hope this helps and hope things get better for you.
I did the same thing, the epi's do not work for long and I do not like the idea of the risk of the injection. The steps are to relay your concerns to your Dr, who, if he/she is like most will probably not discontinue the epi's because many Drs shy away from the pain meds. Your best bet is to harp on the "it's not working for me anymore" and see if Doc will go for meds only.
I agree stay awsy from the knife, it may do more harm than good. Hope this helps.
I Think warm water therapy may be good for you also ( I think it has help me greatly!). Plus getting the right help and prescribed med's from a pain Dr will help, like the others said. You are luck the epidural helped it did nothing for me so maybe try that again, but they do start to lose the effectiveness after awhile.
My husband couldn't walk and was using two canes, he was all bent over and in terrible pain, all he could do was sit in a chair, no quality of life, he went to a chiropractor who does spinal decompression, no pain involved with this, you just lay on a table and are stretched a little at a time over a period of time, it was a miracle, he now walks without a cane and is doing great, I suggest you check into it
