..Without an increase in food intake, my mother has gained 22 pounds in the past year.
Axona is used for:
Dietary management of patients with Alzheimer disease. Axona is a medical food. It works by increasing ketone levels in the blood, which may help to provide energy to the brain in patients with Alzheimer disease.
Axona lists very few side effects and unusual weight gain isn't one of them. I believe they just haven't been reported yet and I will report your mother's. You could ask a pharmacist or if your mom is in a facility, ask the workers there. Too much is still unknown about Axona.
