I need to know what are the topical creams or ointments for treatment of skin and soft tissue infections caused by Methicillin resistant stap aureus bacteria in USA , I used to prescribe Fucidin but it is currently available in US.
1) Zyvox/Zyvoxid continues to be an IDSA-supported treatment option for cSSSI due to known or suspected MRSA4. More information on the studies results are at Pfizer for Professionals.
2) Cubist's second generation oxazolidinone Sivextro works on complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSIs) due to MRSA. In particular, Sivextro's once-daily dosing, shorter course of therapy, and its potential for lower treatment-related adverse events are notable improvements over Pfizer's Zyvox/Zyvoxid, the current market share leader for MRSA cSSSIs. See the Cubist site for cSSSIs for more information.
