There are other ways to calm kids down and get them concentrating without risking damaging their health !
I have not read the book but am curious how it compares to the findings in clinical trials for children and for adults. FRAUD is a harsh word to use for those of use that are true ADHD'ers, it is a real problem and usually coexists with other problems or deficits. It should be about parents and individuals make educated choices and medication can be an answer for people with this diagnosis to get their head in the game. There are very few schools that ADHD children can thrive in and be themselves, or for that matter adults. I am afraid of what my life would be like withouth the proper meds to stop me from making problematic, impulsive decisions! It is one choice of many to use in a toolbox and is catered to each individual, there are many choices and I am only pro medication is issues influence your everyday life in a bad way!! It is like epilepsy, without anti siezure meds, I would be in trouble and not be able to drive or function at work or at home as a single parent, no harm intended in my comments back, I just hate to scare parents away from the right doctors or doses of needed meds! I will have to read the book, as I have one kid that needed alternative placement form being unmedicated and one that cannot focus and is easily frustrated by that fact, we are a family of 3 that have the same issue, imagine if we all were unmedicated??? YIKES!
