If you mean Atorvastatin, both belong to the same drug class and their uses are very similar.

Atorvastatin is used in the treatment of high cholesterol; high cholesterol, familial heterozygous; prevention of cardiovascular disease; high cholesterol, familial homozygous; hyperlipoproteinemia type iia, elevated ldl (and more), and belongs to the drug class statins.

Simvastatin is used in the treatment of high cholesterol; cardiovascular risk reduction; high cholesterol, familial heterozygous; hyperlipoproteinemia; high cholesterol, familial homozygous (and more), and belongs to the drug class statins.
