... Never had before taking this drug. How long will the rebound last ?
Withdrawal from Ativan should only be done under the care of a health practitioner. The safest way is to withdraw at an inpatient medical detox facility. At an inpatient medical detox facility with a protocol that includes hydration, vitamins and supplements, most patients can safely stop taking Ativan in about seven days. Patients can withdraw from Ativan on an outpatient basis but it will normally take at least four weeks. Ativan can be a very difficult drug to stop taking. Here are some of the Ativan withdrawal symptoms:
hypersensitivity to light, noise, and physical contact/perceptual changes
loss of appetite
numbness/tingling of extremities
I did this w my physch decreasing my Zanax every week then started on a 12 hr med called Klonapin for the last week of tapering off one & starting the other. It worked well for me, no withdrawal& the new medication works much better for me than 2.0 Xanax bars 3 times a day.
Hope this helps, Laura
