I have been on .5 mg of Ativan at bedtime for 10 years for anxiety. I no longer need it, but no matter how I try to cut it down to go off of it, I can't. If I cut it down 10% I am unable to sleep at all. Is there something I could take that can help me get off the Ativan?
I do not think the answer to your problem is to put more chemicals in your body.
I took xanax for 10 years and now klonopin for another 10 years , I am 42.
You are on a very low dose but as we bot know ativan is a hypnotic / sedative. But it is a plus cause if you were on 2mgs, that would be a whole different ball game.
This will take sometime , but it works, I did it with xanax.-
So take a quarter off , take it for 4 days , then stop 1 day, you then do the same take another 1/4 off and take it for 5 days , and stop for 2 days, the remaining half take it for 3 days then take a 1/4 off and take it for 3 days stop taking it for another 3 days, then you will end up with just 1/4 of the tablet and take it for 2 to 3 days. This is how I got rid of xanax.
I hope I have been of help.-
Take care and remmember not to get stressed out, this is another reason for you not to get some sleep.-
It will not be easy as we both know benzos are very addicting specially after such prolonged time, you have to relax and not worry when you go to bed.OK
