I have a stress test on the 29th of this month. I take 25 mg of Atenolol in the morning so should I not take the morning dose or wait till after the test? Thanks.
Atenolol before a stress test?
Added 21 Apr 2010:
The reason I asked was I was under the impression that beta-blockers would give a false stress test reading. Atenolol is the only beta-blocker I am taking. I take Diovan Hct and Lipitor plus aspirin also. My test is at 11:30 AM and I usually take my Atenolol at 8 AM every day so it would be a number of hours later and I didn't want to take the chance unless it was necessary. I also didn't want to take the chance on the test if my heart palpitations started w/o the med but I don't want to make the doctor upset. Probably a false idea on my part about the palpitations but it does bother me when they happen. I've had them for years and you would think it wouldn't bother me anymore but it does. Anyway, thanks for the replies.
