My doctor wants to put me on hydroxyzine for my anxiety since the side effects of citalopram were too much for me to handle. I've personally never heard of this drug before so I have questions... Is it effective? How are the side effects? Is it strong? Basically any input will help. I know everyone's body chemistry is different so our bodies react differently to different drugs. But I really want to try something to help me deal with my anxiety better. I've always been hesitant to take any meds and after trying citalopram and having that kick my ass, I'm even more worrisome. Sorry for all of the questions, but when it comes to something like this, I can never be too sure.
I can understand you being hesitant after having a bad run with the Citalopram.
Hydroxyzine is more or less a prescription antihistamine. For some people it can make you drowsy so they take it at night. Some can take it during the day without the drowsy feeling. It may be worth a try for your anxiety. It usually does not have a lot of side effects.
Hope you find something that works for you anxiety soon.
