Hi there, I was diagnosed with AVN due to prednisone use. My symtoms were similar to yours. Not much treatment was done due to my age , at the time I was 39 . The only real cure was surgery and nobody wanted to replace my left hip because I was too young. I was able to get a doctor to prescibe darvocets which really helped control my pain. Finally at 45 I got a total hip which never really felt quite right. It has since been revised in 2008. I have also had both arms and an ankle replaced, these are bone joints I'm talking about. Now my right arm is stating to hurt again and I'm starting to have it looked at again. It was 1st replaced back in 1996. Overall its been a rollercoaster ride with the pain. Lucky for me I've been able to gain access to narcotic to control my pain. At 61 doctors no longer are suspicious of me and will try to prescribe medication that will provide some comfort. I've been on disability since 1995. As if that wasn't enough, I've just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but that's another story.
Like most of us here, you are a chronic pain patient and you need that treated. You have a demonstrable problem, that can't be cured, but you need the pain treated. Have you tried going to a pain management specialist? Just because a disease can't be cured is no excuse to leave someone in pain.
Hello trublesum76, & welcome to the site. It sure sounds like you are in a lot of pain & will be for a long long time. See your PCP, & have them refer you to a Pain Managment specialist. You need to get control of your pain, & unfortunately for a lot of people that means having to take opiate pain pills. I have numerous chrontic pain problems & will have to take them the rest of my life. These type of doctors know how to access your pain & treat it the best way. They may even have some better ideas than the opiates for you. This would be my best suggestion to you at this time. We have many many people on this site that suffer from chrontic pain & are very supportive. If you ever feel the need to scream, hollar,or just talk, or maybe you too can help others, please feel free to comment. The people on here are very supportive of each other, & it's a wonderful site. I wish you the best...
