Color should make no difference you hook the bottom lead into the tens unit then in most cases it has 2 male ends at the other ends of the leads you push each on into a female end that is on the pad and apply it where you need to turn on the machine anytime and find the level that feels the best to you and increase the power to a comfortable level very simple you don't worry about the colors of the wires they are all the same on the ones you put in your pads hope this helps and good luck i swear by my unit if possible don't put the pads in the same place each time..or you well get rashes etc..good luck. My physical therapist showed me how to use my TENS unit. There were 2 wires that plugged into what looked like a remote control device. At the other end the 2 wires became 4 wires. From the 4, 2 had red ends, and 2 had black ends. You're supposed to hook them all up, and place the electrodes in a 'square pattern' surrounding the area of pain. You place the 2 red ones diagonally from each other, same with the black ones, in kind of criss-cross pattern. The electrical current is supposed to cross over like a big "X" with the middle of the "X" being the center of your pain. Hope this helps. In your case, sounds like you have black and white, rather than black and red-but it's probably the same principal. You might want to call the manufacturer just to make sure

It does not matter where you put them the current from the 9 volt battery does not cross from one pad to the other it only comes out of the pad and color makes no difference I use 2 tens units for the last 10 years just hook the wire with one end into the machine and at the other end no matter how many ends or colors the juice only comes out of the pads..you can't cross the,you can tangle them i know that for a fact but as far as one think you make sure you do not continue to put them in the exact same place every day or you well cause skin irritation that is hard to get rid of,,And if you break out you have to wait and not use the unit.on the pads package there is a 1 800 number for Empi the maker of tens and your replacement pads you can also use the pads longer than when they dry out put a dab of water on the gel and replenash it and it well make them sticky again i have had where i can use them for upto 10 to 14 days if you put them back on the clear piece of plactic they ...

Hi Chuck, I have 2 "GSM HD Combo Dual Channel TENS/NMS Units". My physical therapist gave me the placement instructions as I explained in my post. Although they don't give these exact directions in the manual, the manual says: "Electrode Placement: The placement of electrodes is one of the most important parameters in achieving effective pain relief using TENS." Maybe your's is different, but I am just following the PT's instructions
