I am having my thyroid removed. I would like to start on Armour right after. I'm not sure if you should start on the lower end and build up or jump right into a higher dose you would more likely be taking all the time (and what would that be?)
Armour Thyroid is a natural, porcine-derived thyroid hormone replacement containing both T4
The dosage of Armour Thyroid is dependant on its use and is always individualized according to how you respond and your lab results.
To treat hypothyroidism usually you are started with a low doses of 30mg, and increased by 15mg every couple of weeks depending on your heart and blood vessel health. Most patients require 60 to 120mg / day. If successful normal hormone levels are seen after 2 to 3 weeks of maintenance therapy.

Is 60 mg of Armour considered a low dosage to start out on or should I reduce it to 30 mg for a few?
