I've been taking the same 30mg Abilify for about 8 years and now my refill says TV on one side and a number on the other side supposedly another version of Abilify but it is dilating my pupils and giving me insomnia which is the opposite of how it was affecting me for years and it's making me sick, it's for a bipolar disorder with psychosis.
Gabz, this is one of the dozen or so generic formulations and you're probably reacting to one of the inert ingredients rather than the aripiprazole which is controlled.
Let your doctor know right away and ask your pharmacist to special order the version you've been taking for you or try a different version. The price, even on generics, fluctuates and pharmacies tend to order up the most cost efficient for you.
I have to order one of my meds from out of the country because it's not covered in the U.S. Some of the versions I get are pretty bad, but I've only had one bad experience and now the Canadian pharmacy special orders one particular version even if I have to pay a bit more.
Good luck to you! WCV
Morning all, IF possible with ARIPIPRAZOLE try and get the generic brand GREENSTONE this is the same company that makes the brand name Abilify,And in most cases the first generic brand on the market when medication goes off patten is going to be made by the brand name's generic company so keep track of that company. It's a old game they play WHAT happens is when the first generic comes out the brand name company owns that generic company and sets a very high price on it,Then the other companies follow and drop price a few dollars at a time and then withing 6 months I have seen like alprazolam that I had to pay 700.00 dollars for 500 drop to 5.43 cents for the same bottle of 500 if you ever have a question please ask me.I well do my best to get you the answers on generic drugs.
SO many no matter what brand are made in the same warehouse and just bottled under different labels, the sad part the generic could be exact but the brand name companies do not have to tell them what the binders or inert ingredients are and that can make a big difference to us sorry of my 40 some years as a pharmacy Technician 33 years were in a independent pharmacy the rest was at a chain store that bought my boss out. Can't say there name but it was something like C_s And chain stores don't give a damn about us corp. would make the deals with generic companies and get kick backs And would not let us buy the brand we wanted but we were so far from their warehouse in Rhode Island that I could sneak in the brand my customers wanted
Please be easy on your Pharmacist it is not there fault when they say they can't order something it's the jerks in the 3 piece suits that have never stepped foot in the pharmacy that make these decisions So if you can work with a small store with Insurance it does not cost you anymore and even without it's depends on the store but a few bucks is well worth getting what you want. ENOUGH for now I think im confusing people I well try and put it down easier to understand later somewhere Chuck1957
