My neighbor had a PEG feeding tube put in. I as a friend fed her 3 times a day. A Nurse came in and showed me how to do it. Runny bowels and loose bowels are of the norm. So you just have to be prepared.
One other thing I hope the nurse or doctor talked to you is what to do if the tube comes out. Yes, this too can happen. Once you are shown how to put a new one in, it is not that bad. If your doctor wants you to go to the hospital to have them put a new one in, keep a clean gause pad close by and cover the hole that goes to the stomach, tape the gause down and go to the hospital. You need to discuss this now before it happens, as it can as it gets old.
Open discussion between your doctor and nurse is the most important thing
in tube feeding.
