I am 32 weeks along, with rheumatoid arthritis and migraines, and this is my first child. One of my doctors has prescribed Tylenol #3 w/codeine, and the other, oxycodone, both of which are class c and warn against possible breathing problems. That is not a risk I want to take. My neurologist says to take the oxy, my OB says to take the Tylenol and both are assuring me one is safe and the other is not. Isn't there anything safer I could ask about?
Taking many things into considerations. As you know what trimester you are in any medical problems. Have you had children before etc. has to be taken into consideration when you are expecting and have chronic pain. Some pain management physicians are well versed in this care. I work for a physician who has had patients in your condition, and all ended up in healthy babies.
Wish you the best and congradulations
Hi sailboatmummy im not saying this is right for you but you might want to discuss this with your family physician. My sister just recently had a baby weighing in at 9 pounds and 5 ounces he was a big baby. She had taken the strongest norco they make the 10/325 and she had a healthy beautiful baby boy. Just something to think about i guess.
The only pain medication my dr would ok was darvocet, and unfortunately its not really that effective. I could take ibuprofen up until week 28, then no longer. Its a delicate matter, and your safest bet is to tell your dr how you are feeling and ask for their recommendation. Its tough to have chronic pain compounded by those aches and pains of baby carrying... I wish you all the best.
