Due to a rare health condition I have, sedatives and pain killers cause urinary retention to me. I didn't know that antibiotics contain either of those, but I knew that the hard way when I once used an antibiotic and a few days later I ended up spending six hours trying to urinate. This rare issue I have is unrecognized in my country, so it was of no use talking to doctors about it, they have no clue about the antibiotics that I need, so the Internet is the only way for me to find an answer as I will soon undergo a minor surgery and I will have to take antibiotics, I just don't want to end up installing a catheter into my urethra!. Help please.
I don't know of ANY antibiotic that is combined with pain killers or sedatives. It may have just been coincidental that your urinary retention flared. If you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate, many drugs can cause urinary retention due to enlarged prostate but you did not state what, exactly, your condition is. If you can state what your condition is that causes urinary retention I can try to help you more.
