Been taking Bystolic 50 mg for 3 days with bad side effects, told to stop today and start Cozaar I am worried about additional side effects, felt fine on Atenolol but no longer controlling my pressure
the most common Cozaar side effects seen in people with high blood pressure include:
Infection, such as the common cold or flu -- in up to 8 percent of people, Dizziness -- up to 3 percent, Nasal congestion -- up to 2 percent & Back pain -- up to 2 percent.
In people with diabetic nephropathy, common side effects include:
Diarrhea -- in up to 15 percent of people, Fatigue -- up to 14 percent, Anemia -- up to 14 percent, Increase in blood potassium levels -- up to 7 percent, Low blood pressure -- up to 7 percent, Weight gain -- up to 4 percent.
Some side effects with Cozaar are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider, but are not limited to:
Unexplained skin rash, Itching, Unexplained blisters or peeling of the skin, Unexplained swelling of the head or neck (including the face, lips, tongue, or throat), Wheezing, Difficulty breathing or swallowing, Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells, Decreases in the amount of urine produced.
Some of these rare side effects include but are not limited to:
Anemia, Gout, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, Depression, Migraine, Panic disorder, Spinning sensation (vertigo), Allergic reaction, Constipation, Blurred vision, Hair loss, Impotence, Decreased sex drive (libido), Urinary tract infections (UTI), Serious breakdown of muscle (known medically as rhabdomyolysis).
