I was reading the reviews of this implant... and the question that keeps popping up in my mind is, are the negative side effects of implanon directly related to weight gain? I'm a very healthy weight never had any weight issues... wondering if maybe the negative effects from the implanon are all relative to being over/underweight?
There is no reason for the implanon to make you gain weight (so they say). However, me personally, I've gained 2 stone since having it put in. I'm not the only one who experienced weight gain. It needs looking in to thoroughly.
I was told by the nurse that the hormones in the implanon may effect the way you eat, you may feel hungry, and therefore snack more and gain weight.
Hope this helps :)
I think it's just that everyone's body is different, in terms of how their hormone levels are balanced. By taking a drug that increases certain hormones (in this case, adding progesterone), your body has to deal with that increase.
Weight gain can be attributed to hormonal imbalance, so in some cases there could be a link.
