i have a prescription for skelaxin 800mg and lortab 5/500, my back hurts everytime i take a deep breath or cough real hard. the DR. at the e.r took a chest x-ray and an ekg. to rule any thing else out. he seems to believe that is just muscle pain, i am going to do a follow up for a second oppinion, but the pain is somewhat unberable, which leads me to my question, giving what the dr. said is taking those two medications going to do any good? i have read the side effects, and others stories, and thats what makes me ask this question, i am not one for taking pills in the first place, so im a little scared of taking these..
Hi csockwell. When you have your second opinion, have the doctor check your spine. I am recuperating from severe spinal fractures from an accident. Every time I breathe deep, the pain is very bad! Even before my accident I had other spine issues in which surgery was recommended but put off. Even then I could remember deep breaths hurting and sending my muscles in to painful spasms. As far as the medication, is it even working on the pain? If not, ask your doctor about prescribing something else. But in the meantime, it's very important to get a diagnosis. Good for you for seeking the answers! I have a sneaking suspicion it may be spine related. Just my opinion. I hope the news is good and that you can get the problem fixed soon. Good luck to you and my best wishes.
