I am prescribed Xanax but just 1mg, for panic attacks that were really getting in the way of things for me and causing me to be bummed out. This is probably just my anxiety talking, but I am concerned about the side effects of the medication. I do not take the medication daily, it is only as needed, and I have only been taking half of a 1mg tablet so far and it still definitely works. But I was just wondering what some people have experienced as far as side effects and what their dosage has been?
welcome ctk5757, i too am taking xanax half mg 2 times a day, or my dr said i can take 2 totalling 1 mg to help promote sleep or my panic/anxiety attacks which is much more severe since ive been on a taper off of percocet 10/325. for almost a year ive been on a hellish rollercoaster ride up and down and up and down. going from 6-8-13-16 1/4 pills a d.ay, before i got a different taper from thor, i was up to taking anywhere from 13 pills to 16 1/4 pills daily. day 1 was today, and very successfull besides the panic attack, rls, and insomnia and wds waking my up early mornings. i dont take the xanax every day, but i do here its worse to get off of and the withdrawls are also horrible. so be very carefull, i wouldnt wish any type of withdrawl symptoms from any narcotic pills on my worse enemy. its horrids to go thru. i hope i was able to answer your question a little, and sorry for babbling. take care
Xanax can be your best friend for anxiey attacks, but is short lived & can become very addictive over time. Just a word of caution to you to watch if you start to increase your dose too much. It is a short acting benzo, & maybe your doctor should prescribe a longer acting one. Just my thoughts... Mary62009
