Are lexapro and zoloft basically the same thing?

Yes and no. Yes, they are both antidepressants. No, because Lexapro is used for major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) while Zoloft is used for panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and sociel anxiety disorder. Zoloft tends to be a bit more specialized medication. Hope this helps.
