I have suffered with major depression for a long time and have also had 7 skin cancers thus far. Wondering if these conditions could be worsened by Otezla.
Hi, Satin! The National Psoriasis Foundation states that data shared at the World Congress of Dermatology was obtained in Phase III clinic trials involving 844 subjects who where followed for two years. After 1 year <1.6% of patients reported a NON-melanoma skin cancer, after 2 years <1% of the patientsreported a NON-melanoma skin cancer.
It has been known to induce depression, especially in those with a history, so it's a risk -vs- benefit judgement call you and your doctor must make. From a personal history of both severe depression/BiPolar Disorder and severe plaque psoriasis I decided any any risk was well worth the benefit I'm getting.
Good luck and best wishes to you, WCV
