Around 3 weeks ago I had a lot of congestion, and then it started to smell foul, I went to my PA and she said I probably had an abscess in my sinuses somewhere, she gave me a shot of antibiotic in the hip, and sent me home with cefdinir, continued to have intense pain in my right lower cheek and jaw she then put me on Augmentin, and prednisone. Still no relief, I have had 2 C-Sections and have never even thought of being in this much pain. What could this be? I have also been prescribed hydrocodone throughout this while awaiting my appointment with the ENT specialist and it gives me absolutely NO relief. I'm very concerned, and just looking for idea's of what to expect Wednesday. Thanks
Hopefully your ENT can find out what is going on. Perhaps he may want to do xrays or scans of your sinuses. There are antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, so they may want to culture any drainage you have. There is a possibility it could even be caused by a fungus. It may be something that needs to be drained. You will just have to wait and see but hopefully they find out and get you more comfortable. It sounds miserable, bless your heart! An ENT is the specialist and it is certainly the way to go at this point. Good Luck!
