The past 4 days I have had a major decrease in appetite. Today I only ate half of a wrap. I have irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and anxiety. I also am on antidepressants. My mood has been fine and nothing traumatic or anything has happened lately.
Collegekid; There are so many reasons that this can happen it could be the medication you're on. THE HOT weather but one thing you know you have to eat so at least do some nibbling on something you enjoy most the time so you don't get into a rut of not wanting to eat but every 4 days or so. Many people do this when they have depression and anxiety etc. But you do know you have to eat. get with it and if you just can't or won't you should see your doctor. Chuck1957
I completely agree with my friend, Chuck. Keep, at least, nibbling as much as possible to keep yourself going and remember to keep yourself well hydrated.
As to the reason, who knows? Have you started any new medication in the few days prior to this decrease in appetite? Four days is already a long time. If this persists you have to have your doctor rule out any underlying physical/mental disorder.
My best to you. Good luck! Wildcat
I agree with Chuck and Wildcat.
I also hear your anxiety.
If you are still in college , I'll tell you what I told my kids.
"I'm always there for them. When the stress and depression gets you to the point of being suicidal call me."
They were stunned. I told them all college kids think about suicide!
Are you under more stress than usual?
Decreased appetite is a major sign in Depression. It's been 4 days so try not to worry yet.
You may have picked up a bug. Sometimes you don't need all the symptoms when you get the flu.
Alcohol is a depressant so if you are drinking with the others it may not be food for you.
Are you getting exercise? Sometimes a good run restarts the emotional cycle like recharging the battery in your car.
The other possibility is costipation. If you are constipated your body tells you what to do and that is not to put anything else into your body. It takes away the hunger pains.
What I'd advise you to do :
Increase your fluid intake. Dehydration makes Depression worse.
Buy some Ensure or other supplement.
Carnation Instant breakfast is comprable and the least expensive. You don't need food but make sure the calories and nutrients are keeping your body running until you can get back to normal.
Exercise daily even if it's just going for a long walk.
Socialize... it will keep your mind on something instead if worrying .
If it's still going on in a week then you will know it's not a "bug".
You should weigh yourself every two days so you have that info for your doctor.
