APAP is an abbreviation meaning acetaminophen. So this liquid contains 120mg of acetaminophen and 12mg of codeine per 5 ml. 5 ml is equal to a standard measuring teaspoon. So each teaspoon has 120mg acetaminophen (or Tylenol) and 12mg of codeine. It is best to use a liquid medicine measuring spoon or syringe-the pharmacist should be able to provide one. DO NOT USE A REGULAR SPOON FROM YOUR FLATWARE SET TO MEASURE! They are not standardized to measure a real teaspoon full. If he can be comfortable with just plain acetaminophen you can try that rather than the acetaminophen and codeine. Sorry you havent gotten an answer sooner!
