I wondered this, then the other day I found an article in the Washington Post that said that the drug companies have been threatened with increased taxes if they don't play nice.
That just figures, doesn't it? Hit them where it hurts them the most - right in the pocketbook! If there's one way to force their cooperation, that has to be it. This whole business will force people to look to the streets or the internet to order from other countries and blackmarket sources which will raise the crime and arrest rates and they'll just plead innocent to knowing why all this is happening. It's a vicious cycle which won't work out well for anybody, least of all the chronic pain patients who desperately needed the help and medication in the first place.
Sorry guys but I don't go for the conspiracy theory that they are out to get you. Quite frankly, they are ignorant. They have incredible health care in the government and until someone in their family is seriously affected, that is when they see the truth. Look at nancy Reagan who stood in the way if health care. Former president Reagan for Alzheimer's and then, and only then did she start pressure to find a cure.
That is why it so very important for anyone able, to be heard and become active supporting people's rights. Waiting until someone finds us just doesn't work.
I just read s report essentially stating that a meeting is planned with the pain docs, feds of which the DEA is part of the alphabet soup, and the pharmaceutical companies.
Let's just hope on PG the people on the committee stenosis chronic pain patients and from what I read there will be several docs there that themselves suffer every day with their pain meds. Do you think any of our alphabet soup people have a brain amongst them. We can only pray for a positive outcome of the committee meetings.
I just wanted to add, that the reason the drug companies are not having fits about any of this is because they make so many drugs, & doctors will be trying others & new ones in the place of opiates, that it doesn't matter to the drug companies. They make their money on lots of differents meds. Most of the pain drugs are or have gone generic anyway, so it's not skin off their backs. So what if the pain patinets suffer do you really think the drug companies care? It's just monies to them. They have enough other drugs out there & medications it isn't going to hurt them at all... Mary
Sorry, I'm not understanding exactly what to say to our Senators and Representatives. I don't know the facts. Sorry, I spent the last 2 years taking care of my mother in hospice who just died last month. Plus going to mega doctor appointments and needing to sleep 12 hours/night since my stroke 4 years ago. So I would like to do my part, but need help understanding the issue.
Thanks for any help someone can give me.
