In all fairness it sometimes takes allot to get a drug to the condition that it will be an extended release shot. That being said, I doubt it was so much they have to charge that to break even. Its probably more that they know people will pay for it, so they can pay their stock holders more. Until america gets smart and puts some kind of cap on what drug companies can charge, we are going to have this. Even generic naltrexone pills are more then I think they should be since its an old medication.
