Been in Paxil for 15 years and recently felt anxiety and depression again. Dr figured not working anymore. One month ago was weened off by cutting down from 30 mg to 15 mg and added Trintellix at 10mg for 3 weeks. Just was taken off Paxil completely and added 5 mg for three days and last night went to 20 mg. Had high anxiety this morning after waking up. Taking it at night. Should I give it more time or has anyone tried to stick with it and it hasn't changed? So tired of feeling this way. Can't function normal and getting very frustrated and overwhelmed. Also thought myself it could be the post menopause possibly. Just too many things going on.
I have been taking Trintellix for almost 3 months and my results are staggeringly disappointing! Since I'm elderly, have been giving the benefit of the doubt thinking it has something to do with it. But am beginning to feel like it has been a huge waste of time and money. The only reason I began the Trintellix regimen was the hope of no weight gain after being on Zoloft for quite some time. Zoloft helped immensely with depression and somewhat for anxiety but my weight got way out of control.
As to your anxiety issues, the Trintellix did nothing for my anxiety whatsoever and very little for the depression. It's highly overrated and overpriced and I'm weaning off of it now.
Xanax is the only medication that helps completely with anxiety - I know because I have been dealing with it for years and years. It's shameful that people who really NEED it have to do without due to people abusing it or selling it.
HI! I took Trintellix for 8 months and then it wore off, then on to different ones. I am only on Abilify and it's working very well for motivation and energy, anxiety as well. When Trintellix was working it worked well but the side effects at first, and then each time it was upped, we're a bit unpleasant for about 2 weeks then nothing (exactly what you've said). If it works for you stick to it! I did like that one mostly, for MDD and GAD! Five to 20 mgs is a big difference, I was only allowed to up 5 mgs at a time! Good luck and see how you do. PS I go back to Dr for med check next week and will likely be added something else, but the Abilify has been my new favourite lol!
I've been on Paxil for 20 years. I'm now taking 40 mg, but like you... I feel it isn't working any longer. I'm so depressed I can't get out of bed. I have chronic intractable migraines and feel like I've hit rock bottom. In the past, I was weaned off of Paxil and tried many other meds. My hair fell out, I would be irritable, and my anxiety came back bad. I've never tried Trintellix, but I am interested in your journey, as it is close to mine. Since trying other meds, and trying to get off of Paxil, I now know I want to keep Paxil and add something. I've been told by numerous docs that Paxil is the best for Anxiety.
