What conditions does Trileptal Oral treat?
Trileptal Oral is used to treat the following:
Simple Partial Seizures, Convulsive Seizures, Simple Seizure, Additional Medication to Treat Partial Seizures
Trileptal is used to treat partial seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old
Trileptal can reduce the sodium in your body to dangerously low levels, which can cause a life-threatening electrolyte imbalance. Contact your doctor right away if you have headache, problems with thinking or memory, weakness, loss of appetite, feeling unsteady, confusion, hallucinations, fainting, shallow breathing, and/or increased or more severe seizures.
Psoriasis: Treatment Options to Manage Your Symptoms
Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself
I found this info here on our site. I researched it, and all the other sites said the same thing. You may want to research it yourself or have a sit down consult with your pharmacist. Pharmacist are excellent for knowing drugs.
I wish I could help you more.
Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) is an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing drug, used primarily in the treatment of epilepsy. It is also used to treat anxiety and mood disorders, and benign motor tics.
Oxcarbazepine is a structural derivative of carbamazepine, with a ketone in place of the carbon–carbon double bond on the dibenzazepine ring at the 10 position (10-keto). This difference helps reduce the impact on the liver of metabolizing the drug, and also prevents the serious forms of anemia or agranulocytosis occasionally associated with carbamazepine. Aside from this reduction in side effects, it is thought to have the same mechanism as carbamazepine – sodium channel inhibition (presumed to be the main mechanism of action) – and is generally used to treat the same conditions.
Tegretol (carbamazepine) worked great for my anxiety and mood disorder but I wish my Doc had tried Trileptal first as I developed the blood problem on Tegretol and now cannot take either but it sure worked good for me and I haven't found anything that has worked that well yet.
Hope that helps
Theresao6 I have never seen this drug used for this unless used with several other drugs but Trileptal is very comman to cause depression and restlessness dizzness, increase anxiety the doctor could be using it for a off label reason but the dose you are taking seem to me it would cause more problems check back with your doctor..Chuck Wise Sr.Retired Pharmacy Techneician Cpht.
