I'm overweight and I'm taking it for mood stabilizer also on medicines that make me gain weight so will I lose weight on this. I am on 25 mg
LOVE1000; Just want you to know I MYSELF do not take this medication but it is one that is very common and it sounds like you are asking more about the side effect of weight loss. And this is true if that is a problem let your doctor know. Also when you first start it you may feel a bit disorientated or not quite right but this well pass. Now, these side effects should if you get them at all be mild because of your on one of the lowest doses. Here is a copy and paste of the most common side effects now remember because it is listed does not mean you well have it. Really for the amount of people that take this very few have the side effects listed. Trust in the doctor.
Chuck1957 (Common side effects of Topamax include: anxiety, ataxia, confusion, diarrhea, diplopia, dizziness, drowsiness, dysphagia, fatigue, lack of concentration, memory impairment, nausea, nervousness, paresthesia, psychomotor disturbance, speech disturbance, depression, visual disturbance, weight loss, dysgeusia, mood changes, and anorexia. Other side effects include arthralgia and asthenia.
Hey, I've taken Topamax for a little over a month and I dropped weight like crazy. I had 200mg. It was prescribed for my seizures, anxiety and as a mood stabilizer. I'm no longer taking it, due to the fact that the Topamax acted as a 'bandaid to a open wound' when it came to fighting off my seizures so it wasn't helping much. I am now on Trileptal and it seems to be getting the job done nicely.
I hope all is well!!
