Just wondering if anyone was around to offer some feedback again for me on waiting to see if a med will work
I really feel for you. I do wonder if it's time to change your doctor? Have you thought about changing doctors if you are not happy with your current one?
How long does your doctor say it will take for Paxil (or any other medication) to work? Are you seeing a counselor for your depression and anxiety?
theresa, hon, I really feel you are anxious for your meds to work. Asking the same questions day after day are not going to change the answer. 4-6 weeks is norrn, some take longer, some shorter, depending on person, med, etc. Getting all worked up over it is NOT good for you, or for the medicine. If you have already decided it is not going to work, the chances are lower. The brain is a very powerful tool, whether we use it in a positive or negative way. I know of people in terrible pain that were told they were given a strong pain killer that worked very fast. Most of them felt better quickly. It was a placebo. Nothing more than a sugar pill, but, because they believed it was working, it did. Tell yourself it IS going to work when it gets in your system good, and you are closer every day. I truly care for you and sincerely hope you find relief soon.
