I want to know how people are currently doing that have been on warfarin for a long period of time such as 10, 20 or 30+ years? I have to take it for life after getting recurreing blood clots and PE's following my first DVT in the right calf muscle. I tried to get off it and almost died from a saddle pulmary embolism. Doing good now that i'm back on the warfarin, but no way can i get off of it now, too risky and could leade to a fatal PE. I was lucky to survive 2 PE's, not going to risk going off warfarin again. Any input would be much appreciated, thx!
I've been taking it for 10 years.
Hi. I’ve been taking warfarin almost 20 years. I feel fine and no further PE occurrence. Have had what I consider somewhat insignificant side effects. My hair has gotten thinner and I do have more fragile skin than most, leading to being a bit more diligent about my surroundings. But it’s a trade off I am certainly willing to live with. Best wishes
