My dr has prescribed me liothyronine t3 thyroid replacement for hypothyroidism. I am breastfeeding a 1 y.o. conflicting studies say its fine to take with others saying it's unsafe. Even my pharmacist said no studies on nursing infants have been done and to use at my discretion. I am curious to hear from anyone else who is breastfeeding on cytomel or any other liothyronine meds. Worried.
liothyronin does pass through breast milk but in such small amounts that it does not effect the newborn or interfere with infant thyroid. But as always you have to make your own decision. You can find more info on websites in the United Kingdom
