many thanks - from 'find a name' would be grateful for any info. as my medic gives me very little!!
Ramipril is in a group of drugs called ACE inhibitors.( ACE stands for angiotensin converting enzyme.) Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or congestive heart failure, and to improve survival after a heart attack.
Ramipril can work very quickly in hypertension. If you have heart failure it may be weeks or months before you notice an improvement in your symptoms.
Generally for hypertension you will be started on a low dose to make sure you are coping well and then your dose will be gradually increased to a point where your blood pressure is sufficiently reduced. This process can take several months.
