I am considering starting on low dose 20 mg to start.
I personally did not have much luck on Cymbalta due to headaches. My success was with Effexor XR. However, everyone is different and the bicyclics, like these 2 drugs in the extended release are generally helpful. I would start at 20mg if you are very sensitive to these types of medications. While I have done extensive research on these drugs, my opinion does not replace the opinions of board certified psychiatrists and neurologists.
So, my suggestion is to see if the psychiatrist will go along with it. If not, the alternative would be starting at 75mg of Effexor XR.
Hi ljs. I actually have had considerable improvement with my anxiety & panic with Cymbalta. However I started @ a 60mg dose but I also have fibromyalgia. Even with the Cymbalta I still needed a little extra help so recently my Dr added Abilify which has been tremendously beneficial to me. Hope the Cymbalta helps you. Good luck!
I had severe headaches and it made me tired all the time. As for panic attacks it really did no good for it. But everyone is different and what may work for one person may not work for another. People with anxiety are more sensitive to medicines (so they say..) which I would have to agree based on expierence. I've been on every ssri and recently tried wellbutrin and abilify (which I have no idea why I was put on it to be honest considering it doesn't treat anxiety) and still haven't found anything that works for me. Generally ssri's or anti depressants take weeks to months to really feel the effects. They also say it gets worse before it gets better. :/ hang in there.
