... got a call from him and waiting to hear back. I've been on it since June of 2015 after an 11 day hospital stay for a terrible flare. I was diagnosed in March of 2014 (first flare, 85% of my colon affected - severe CD) and am 53 yo. I'm wondering if this means I'm building anitbodies, or if my body is rejecting it. Truth told, even with the side effects that were pretty bad the first 6 months, I've been in remission since December 2015. The past 4-6 weeks I have had very loose stools, some, most in fact just plain diarrhea. Not looking forward to his response. Funny I wanted to go off it when I went into remission. Now I'm afraid to go off of it because of the severity of my flares.
Hi ciesieju. I have only been on the infusions for about a year, but it has really helped me. I have it every 6 weeks. We started at 8 weeks for the first few months, then switched to 6. I really didn't have side effects, except about 3 days after the remicade, I would have to take the whole day sleeping. My GI has said that like with most medications it may someday quit working but that would most likely be because of the side effects to the liver or pancreas. Like with prednisone, which I swear by, the effects that you don't know are happening may mean you have to give it up. It is terribly expensive, but it has given me some semblence of a life. Its been nice to be able to leave the house!
